food in fashion project | River smiths

This three-piece ensemble I meticulously constructed for the Food In Fashion Project was a fusion of imagination and resourcefulness, repurposing items sourced entirely from the eclectic River Smith's restaurant. Each element of the ensemble bore a distinctive narrative, interweaving culinary artifacts into a striking wearable piece.

At its core, the fit and flare skirt uses repurposed table numbers and checkered basket paper, meticulously fashioned to create an elegant silhouette. A rope, cinched at the waist, offered a unique and organic touch, lending definition to the ensemble. The pièce de résistance was a captivating detachable cape crafted from netting, cascading gracefully from the skirt, imparting a dramatic flair to the overall design.

The bodice, a testament to detailed craftsmanship, featured a fitted satin crop top. Emblazoned within a stylized fish emblem, showcasing the River Smith's logo, woven into the fabric. The sleeves, adorned with a delicate netting overlay, depicted a scene reminiscent of fishermen in pursuit of their catch. The sleeves culminated in a whimsical touch – food baskets repurposed into cuffs, delicately laced with rope, adding a touch of rustic charm.

To complete this ensemble, a basket choker was meticulously fashioned, adding an exquisite detail that harmonized seamlessly with the overall design. Each of these distinctive elements, discovered within the confines of River Smith's, culminated in a harmonious ensemble that not only celebrated the restaurant's eclectic charm but also pushed the boundaries of tailored innovation. It's a testament to the beauty found in repurposing everyday items, transforming them into wearable art that resonates with the spirit of culinary craftsmanship.
